Beryllium Exposure Standard Enforcement Delayed Until May 2018

The Trump Administration has yet again delayed the implementation of a stricter standard for occupational exposure to beryllium. The new date for enforcement is May 11, 2018.

The recently published report from Gov. Pat Murphy's transition team calls for sweeping reforms of the state's workers' compensation system. 

 This flu season has been epidemic. It has severely affected the occupational health network and created challenges not foreseen by the crafters of the 1911 workers’ compensation act(s). 

Unlike a civil action, Workers’ Compensation claims must be filed within the procedural limitations of the NJ 2-year statute of limitations and are not tolled by infancy.

 Medical providers will have a new tool to diagnose concussions since as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration today permitted marketing of the first blood test to evaluate mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), commonly called a concussion, in adults.

The State of New Jersey now supports a ban on fracking. NJ Governor Pat Murphy recognized the health and environmental consequences of using this process to explore and mine for natural gas.
